GUIDE TO CAPITALIZATION: RULES AND USAGE

Looking to expand your hat collection without venturing into brimmed territory? Opting for a new cap is often the simplest grab-and-go choice. Let’s explore the diverse styles we offer to get you started!

Flat caps serve as the overarching category encompassing a range of refined styles and cuts, all suitable for everyday wear. Let’s break down some of the basic cuts we offer to guide you on your journey.

The Ivy (or Ivy League) represents the dressiest option among flat caps. Recognizable by its flat, wedge-like shape created by a single panel of fabric sewn on top, with a secondary, thinner panel trimming the bill, which remains visible. Our Belfry Sarno exemplifies the modern trim cut, while the Wigens Arthur embodies the classic cut. The Arthur, in particular, pairs well with a suit due to its clean lines, but don’t hesitate to dress it down with a sweater and jeans for a casual outing.

On the more casual side are the Pub and Duckbill cap cuts. To distinguish these, observe where the fabric is tacked along the bill and how much of the bill remains visible. Pubs, like our Belfry Caserta, have the fabric mostly tacked toward the edge of the bill, keeping it slightly visible, while Duckbills, such as the Wigens Younger, feature a bill that is nearly unseen, giving them a more swooped profile resembling a duck’s bill.

These caps were traditionally worn as workman’s hats, suitable for everyday wear, and remain easy to pair with casual attire, even a graphic t-shirt. They are our top no-fuss option, recommended for those accustomed to wearing ballcaps who seek something new. With no excess fabric at the sides and a trim fit against the head, they offer a familiar feel.

What about Newsboys? Ours typically feature 8 or 6 panels, easily identified by an added button on top. While the 8-panel style, like the Belfry Rieti, has a mushroom-shaped profile, the 6-panel design, such as the Belfry Capua, offers a sleeker silhouette akin to the Ivy and Pub caps. This makes it a favorite among customers seeking the paneled cap look without the bulk.

While most of our newsboys are tacked down, the Belfry Rapallo offers an open style, allowing you to experiment with how the fabric lays, akin to wearing a tam or beret. Perfect for those who enjoy styling their hats to make the look their own.

Baseball caps also make an appearance in our collection, providing a familiar favorite for those who prefer them. With most featuring a buttoned six-panel top, our Belfry Italia collection tends to have shorter bills, while Wigens baseball caps boast slightly longer bills for added coverage. Some of our heavier Fall/Winter fabric options even come with tucked-in earflaps, ideal for cold winter days.

For an alternative to the open-billed cap, we offer Fiddler caps (sometimes referred to as Fisherman caps). The Belfry Ravenna is a prime example, offering a unique alternative to the Newsboy style. These caps elevate your look beyond a plain baseball cap and can be dressed up with a jacket, though they are generally considered too casual for suits.

So, are you ready to cap off your look with something new? We hope you are, and we look forward to showcasing all our available styles for you to explore!
